First, I’d like to start by wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Whatever you are doing this festive period, I hope it is filled with joy and fun with the people you most want to spend time with.
It has been a very difficult year for many this year, and it is the sense of community that websites such as Talk Sea Fishing have that keeps many an anglers desire burning to discuss the hobby they love.
I feel as though the website has been neglected a little this year by myself.
This coming year, I’m determined to be part of the community more. For reasons around work and moving home, I’ve not managed to get fishing this year very much, something I want to rectify and to start posting my own catch reports.
This year I will be working more on the forum. The first thing you will notice is that the articles and reviews will be merged into the forum itself. This means they will show up in search, in notifications and also in our progressive web app, which can be installed on most mobile phones. This brings the information to more people’s devices easier. I’m hoping to get this completed by the middle of January.
I’m also bringing tackle reviews into the forum this year. This will be three-fold. Firstly, items will be added with what the manufacturer says about the products. Then, if we’ve bought it, and we use it, we’ll add an “Editor's Review” — this will be our thoughts on those products, if we’ve used them. Thirdly will be your views. You will be able to add your views on the products we add to the list, if you own or have used the product. The idea is to create a comprehensive database of products reviews that actually helps anglers. We’re also going to be launching a dedicated Tackle Reviews website too for all forms of angling, but more on that at a later date!
I’m seeing more and more the toxicity of social media. There appears to be a general drag on society from its use. Myself, I’ve stepped away from it over the last few months, rediscovering forums new and old, across a broad spectrum of subjects. There is very little in the social media world that has the authority of a blog or a forum. My plan is to make TSF a hub and community for sea anglers. Without the noise, frustrations and mental impact that social media can have.
All that needs to be said is a huge thank you from myself to you, for visiting the website, reading the articles and posts and interacting with the community. It means a huge amount.
Once again, I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year full of tight lines and plenty of fish!
Tight lines and all the best
